This is a list of races in ordrer of their strength potential, begining at the top and descending downwards. This shows their highest potential unless they are of noble blood, in the case of nobles (which are far and few between) you simply add one letter grade to their maximum potential.
In addition you can also find the do's and don'ts of each race here, stuff they can learn, what their general power sets are and where they have the potential to start out on the rank chart.
A special note on flying characters, when they are flying at high speed treat their physical speed as one rank higher than what they actually are.

S Rank
- Demon (S)
What they are:
Demons make up a large group of monsters in the world of Rosario + Vampire and they can have many varying themes like the Yokou (fire demon) or the Raijuu (thunder demon) or even the crow tenguu (crow demon). They have been lumped together in this category and this race can also be used to express a few that haven't been shown in the manga or anime just look at the qualifications. Unless a demon is specifically listed elsewhere it can found here and usually originates from hell or a sinister place in the monster world.
What they do:
Control over one element and a unique physical appearance that often includes animalistic traits and perks. Demons are unique in the fact that they can achieve two forms if they reach their highest rank of power. This secondary form may grant them extra power in the area of either their physical prowness or elemental damage rating.
(Example of extra power being if your monster rank is C then your prowness in the area of decided extra power will be played as B-)
What they start at:
Demons start at the rank of C- to C+ depending on their profile.
***Special Rules***
A Demon can gain a second, more powerful, monster form. In order to do this they must face a custom trial. - Ghoul (S+)
What they are:
Welcome to the one thing in the monster world that you really don't want to see unless you are a Dark Lord. Ghoul's are basically a modified human that has been created through some powerful black magic or a vampire blood infusion gone wrong.
What they can do:
They have the same type of powers as vampires but are reknowned for both their speed and strength. These bad boys even have resistance to magic and can have the effects lowered by one standing in the rank. Destroy them at all costs though because they are mindless killing machines that will wreak havoc.
What they start at:
Even if an E rank human is turned into a Ghoul they instantly are promoted to whatever rank their vampire or caster was and then subtract one standing. For example, an A+ Vampire would create a casual A rank ghoul unless there is some inate potential to be a vampire pushing them up or some inate weakness pulling them down. (Case by Case decision). - Phoenix (S+)
What they are:
Phoenix are a breed of bird monsters that are themed after the power of fire and rebirth. They are the rarest of all monsters and rumored to have some affiliation with the gods. Expect to have only one or two characters that hold this race but don't piss them off as they'll reduce you to ash.
What they can do:
Control over fire. Transformation into the monster form with feather, talons and wings. High monster energy, giving them stamina that is always considered one step above their current ranking. Ability to fly at high speeds and combine these powers as you see fit. Rebirth, you can not actually be killed permanently unless you are sealed with some great magic but it takes you a while to stand back up. You won't actually be resurrecting yourself IN a thread until you reach A+ rank.
(Example of High monster energy being if you are a C rank monster you actually have the stamina of a C+ monster.)
What they start at:
Phoenix start at the rank of C+ or B- depending on profile quality. Currently we only allow two of these characters on the site as they are the rarest of all monsters.
***Special Rule***
A Phoenix must die and rebirth each time it ranks up to a new 'letter' grade, for example from C+ to B- warrants it but not from B- to B.
A Rank
- Djinn (A)
What they are:
A magical species of spirits that often are imprisoned inside a hollow object like an oil lamp. When rubbed the Djinn appears and becomes the slave of the person that rubbed their lamp. In order to become free they must be wished free or fullfill their job and choose to lose a good chunk of their powers. These creatures are bound by certain rules.
What they do:
When slaved they can grant three wishes to their master that have very powerful reality distortion abilities that must simply follow five rules:
1. No killing.
2. No raising people from the dead.
3. Can't make anyone fall in love with anyone else.
4. Can not undo or distort anything tied to a dark lord.
5. Wishes can not violate staff decisions or turn back time =P
After that they have the highest amount of reality warping ability with their magic. However, once they are set free in any way other than being wished free by their master they experience a decrease in monster energy power.
(Example of decrease in power: If your monster is B+ then your power would have the potency of a monster at the rank of B-)
What they start at:
Djinn have the option to start as a free being with the rank of C- and their decrease in power present or they may start in a lamp at the rank of C+ and try to get 'wished free'.
***Special Rule***
Must grant three wishes to one person, as the lamp holder, in order to rank up from B rank. - Doppler Ganger (A-)
What they are:
A special monster that forsakes having any real monster form in the favor of being a copy cat.
What they do:
With the act of a physical touch this monster can shift into a form that allows them to copy whatever monster they have previously touched. While it does not copy the rank of the target it does copy physical appearance and all abilities. The draw back to this is that the character can never learn any abilities of their own accord but are in fact a 'copy cat'.
What they start at:
They start anywhere from D- to C depending on profile quality. We only allow one doppler ganger at a time on the site. - Golem (A-)
What they are:
Golems are creatures made of an earthen material and then animated by an alchemist. Free roaming golems are usually the result of a kind master or a situation where the golem was more powerful than their controller and rebelled. In their monster form they are usually much larger than any other monster and seem to gain mass as their rank grows higher.
What they do:
Physical strength and defense. Honestly a Golem doesn't have much control over the natural element except for keeping itself together and rejecting the influence of even the most powerful spell casters. They can not be charmed or controlled in any way and always have an edge in physical defense because they are made of earthen materials though it isn't enough to constitute a whole rank. Golems have the option to choose an empowered defense in the area of at either physical or magical.
(Example: Your monster is at the rank of C- and either your physical defense or your resistance to magic will treated like a monster at C+)
What they start at:
Golems start at either D- or D+ depending on profile quality. - Kraken (A)
What they are:
A type of sea faring monster that has ties with old sailing myths in many legends. Often few in number these powerful monsters are quite shy about showing off what they really are.
What they do:
Their monster form comes complete with eight tentacles that will always have empowered strength. Also, they are impervious to being drowned as they can breath in water and take extra damage from both electrical and heat based attacks while resisting water and ice based.
(Example of empowered strength: Your monster is at B rank, their physical strength is played at B+ rank.)
What they start at:
Kraken start at anywhere from C- to C+ depending on rank. This is a male only race. - Necromancer (A)
What they are: A type of spell caster that leans more towards summons and spells involving the undead. Considered the most rare type of caster and one of the most dangerous.
What they do: Necromancers are not allowed to have many normal spells, in fact all their abilities and youjutsu must be associated with the underworld and the undead. Necromancers often enchant their bodies to become undead themselves and can not truly be killed until all of their energy has been used up. There is a limit of two Necromancers on the site at any one time. Also, these are the only characters that can theoritically travel back and forth between the underworld (other than certain demons) and may find a way to re-animate the dead or assert control over those considered 'undead' in a fashion similar to charm given sufficient rank.
What they start at:
C rank is their starting point. - Siren (A)
What they are:
Simply put Sirens are a sea faring type of monster that are also called mermaids. Carnivorous and known for their tendancy to lure sailors to crash their ships and then devour or drown them. Also they are considered one of the most beautiful races.
What they do:
Their monster form comes equipped with rows of razor sharp teeth similar to a shark's and a mermaid tail capable of high speed swimming. Siren's have a beautiful voice that can hypnotize men into doing highly reckless things. When in the water your entire character is treated as if they are fully empowered in all areas.
(Example of fully empowered: Your character is a C rank monster, you play as a C+ rank.)
What they start at:
Siren's start at D- to C- depending on their profile. This is a female only race. - Snow People (A)
What they are:
Snow people are a group of monsters comprised mostly of women that live in the high mountains and snowy peaks of both the monster and human world. These gentle creatures are known to be among the kindest of monsters as they often focus on trying to find a mate before their fertility timer runs out and their race's population with it.
What they do:
Complete immunity to cold and ice with a drastic weakness to fire, so much to the point that they need a cooling device (like Mizore's sucker) in order to walk around in normal temperatures. They have highly refined control over ice and their monster power allows them to create advanced constructs out of the material that include same ranked clones!
What they start at:
Snow people start at the standard C rank and will be a predominantly female race. - Succubus (A+)
What they are:
Love demons oo la la the male counterpart is called an inccubus. These demons are usually focused on love or the pursuit of sexual relationships and are probably the most friendly to humans while being highly dangerous at the same time.
What they do:
Ability to fly at high speeds in monster form, the females have extendable nails that are capable of cutting through almost any material. Both the males and females also have a tail that is razor sharp like their nails.
Also, the ability to use Charm which will allow to you assume temporary mind control over a character of the opposite sex. Charm can be overpowered through willpower though if anything 'heated' happens with a love demon they may eat your soul, if charmed when something 'heated' happens you could become their slave for life. Beware!
What they start at:
These monsters start anywhere from D to C rank depending on profile.
***Special Rules***
Succubus can not advance past the rank of B unless they establish an IC connection to either the idea of pure 'Lust' or pure 'Love' which must then be melded together in order to advance past A rank. - Vampire (A)
What they are:
Vampires are the original kings and queens of the night spawned through the power of Alucard once upon a time. These monsters are considered aristocrats and often see themselves at the top of the monster food chain. To see them paired with one outside of their race would be unthinkable and they are also the primary exterminators for ghouls that come into existance.
Humans can be turned into Vampires.
What they do:
With enhanced strength this creature of the night is a fierce physical fighter that can drain their opponent's blood with their fangs to recover energy. Vampires have a weakness to water and can regenerate from wounds depending on how high their rank is. They can also learn to use a variation of charm on the opposite sex though it only works at night.
Vampires can create more vampires though there is a chance that the process will go wrong and kill their target or create a ghoul.
Vampires also are gifted with empowered strength in their physical prowness as long as it is night unless you are of noble blood.
(Example of empowered physical prowness means that if your monster is B rank their physical power will be ranked at B+)
What they start at:
These monsters start anywhere from C to C+ rank depending on their profile.
***Special Rule***
Vampires must turn at least one person from human to vampire/ghoul or feed a total of ten times in order to rank up from B+. - Werewolves (A)
What they are:
Wolves that have been sired by the original curse of the wolf or bitten by those that were sired by the ancient curse. These creatures of the night are known for transforming into large, animalistic forms and howling at the full moon.
Humans can become werewolves.
What they do:
Werewolves have large claws and fangs that they use to rip their opponents to shreds. Their monster energy is almost completely surpressed and makes them nearly impossible to track by their energy alone. Also they gain more power as the phases of the moons come and go, with the full moon giving them enhanced resistance to magic. Werewolves always have empowered speed.
Werewolves can attempt to turn a human into one of them with a bite, though there is a chance of death.
(When under a full moon, lower magic by one rank: A rank would go to A-)
(Judge their speed as one rank higher: B rank would be played as B+ rank.)
What they start at:
Werewolves start at anywhere from D+ to C rank.
***Special Rule***
Must have at least five threads howling at a full moon or hunting under it in order to rank up past B+. - Witch (A+)
What they are:
A seemingly human individual that possess the power to use magic with the aide of a wand. The equivelant of a witch in male terms is a warlock and they often fit in with both the monster and the human world very well.
Humans can become witches if they are taught.
What they do:
These monsters have the ability to make invoking spells that deal with either summoning actual objects, using raw energy or even healing. Can not summon living creatures but can animate otherwise inanimate objects. High level spells take a toll on their wand and they may need to re-craft it in order to handle more powerful magic as they progress in their lives. Though there is a flaw with these casters as their body does not keep up with their magical ability and they have weak bodies.
(Example: If this monster has a rank of B then their body takes physical damage as a C would.)
What they start at:
These monsters start at D rank to C- rank.
***Special Rule***
Witches must make a new wand for each time they enter into a new 'letter grade' for an example a movement from C+ to B- warrants a new wand but a movement from B- to B. - Wizards (A+)
What they are:
Similar to witches except for the fact that they specialize in a different kind of magic. Only men can be wizards and other spell casters can not transfer into this category. Often denoted as a race that is far wiser than any other in the monster world.
Humans can become Wizards if they are taught.
What they do:
Magic by spoken words, sealing, enchanting items and even healing. Barriers and defensive abilities are a wizard's speciality and making very interesting items that are otherwise unseen by the rest of the monster world. Though there is a flaw with these casters as their body does not keep up with their magical ability and they have weak bodies.
(Example: If this monster has a rank of B then their body takes physical damage as a C would.)
What they start at:
These monsters start at C to B- rank.
***Special rules***
Pass an academy examined hosted by either the headmaster or a prominent spell caster recognized as a faculty by the school in order to move past A- ranking. - Zombie (A-)
What they are:
Zombies!!! Used to be humans that died are have been re-animated either through sheer will power or the fact that a necromancer wanted them to get up and walk. Known for being rather 'stiff' and nigh undefeatable, stay clear else you may become one of them.
All races can become a Zombie.
What they do:
Zombies are undead and immortal, able to take any wound and live from it. They are stiff and unable to perform complex body movements but they have amazing physical strength and feel no pain. Magic is only as effective against them as against any one else and they have the ability to turn someone else into a zombie through a special 'ritual' often used by necromancers. These monsters have empowered strength.
(Example: If your monster is at C rank then their strength is played out at C+ rank.)
What they start at:
Zombies start at D- rank to D+ rank.
B Rank
- Cyclops (B-)
What they are:
One eyed monsters that have been said to see the future on rare occasion. Not the prettiest or the strongest of monsters, nor even the brightest except on rare occasion but watch out if you happen to offend one within arm's reach.
What they do:
Gain a large monsterous form and seem to take damage well. Their single eye can function to use 'future sight' techniques, this improves as they grow in power. This ability is staff regulated but can allow a certain amount of combat prowness that is not seen in any other race. Ask staff for rules on how to make abilities concerning their future sight.
What they start at:
These monsters start at E+ rank to D rank. - Ghosts/Wraiths (B-)
What they are:
Ghosts are spirits of the deceased plain and simple, brought back to life through sheer willpower to haunt the living. Though they are not nearly as powerful as their counterpart the zombie as they have lost their physical body.
All races can become ghosts.
What they do:
Ghosts are confined to a max rank because of the loss of their physical bodies however they gain acess to the ability to phase through walls and disappear. Phasing does not work against magical attacks but does work against physical force. Ghosts can also disappear and have empowered speed similar to that of a werewolf.
(Example: If your monster's rank is C then your physical speed is played out at C+)
What they start at:
Ghosts start out as a living human or monster. - Humans (B+)
What they are:
Humans are the race that can be simple nobodies, go learn magic, become monster hunters or even powerful martial artists. They can be beautiful or ugly but the thing to realize about them is that they will always be mortal and often fear the monster world at large.
What they do:
Not much, they can learn to fight with weapons or harness their inner power. Only the most powerful of martial artists will ever make it into the realm of the superhuman and be considered 'average' among monsters. Best leave the fighting to the nukes, eh?
What they start at:
Humans start anywhere from E- to E rank.
***Special rule***
In order to move past B ranking a human must prove that they are as strong as a monster of equal or higher rank in pitched combat. If they do extremely well it is possible to push their cap one rank higher. - Insect and Animal Hybrids (B)
What they are:
Monsters that haven't quite made a big splash in the pond yet, usually they are the offspring of a demon and a human that starts a weird race. Sometimes even animals crossing with humans in weird ways create monsters of science fiction and magic. These monsters always have a theme of bug or animal that defines their powers and transformations.
Humans can become these monsters.
What they do:
Shift into a monster form that has special abilities associated with whatever theme they have in place. These monsters don't particularily like humans and they are considered among the most common in population. Their forms can be large or small and vary quite widely though they do not have acess to elemental powers unless they are crossed with say... a dragon.
What they start at:
E+ rank to D rank. - Lamia (B+)
What they are:
A greek monster that is actually similar to a vampire and are an exclusively female race. They are a mixed bag and can be seen as either very friendly monster or very violent and treacherous. Often known for their resistance to fire and violence under the full moon. Rumored to be the result of greek gods.
What they do:
Monster form that gains a long snake-like tail in place of two legs. These monsters are almost completely immune to fire and heat based abilities while gaining an increased weakness to ice much like a reverse of the snow people body type. Lamia can drink the blood of their victims in order to recover strength like vampires and are resistant to magic as they are the product of greek gods. Also, under the full moon any Lamia under the rank of B will go berserk and act very feral or impulsive as they gain a strength empowerment.
(Example: Lower all magic by one rank.)
(Example: If your rank is C then treat your physical strength as C+)
What they start at:
E+ rank to D rank.
***Special Rule***
Required to devour the blood of a character of equal rank in order to move past B- Ranking. - Mages (B+)
What they are:
A spell caster that uses their own body as the conduit for invoking various spells. Often known for their ability to take hits better than other spell casters and fit in to both human realms and monster realms.
Humans can become mages if they are taught.
What they do:
Elemental spells that are channeled from the environment and directly into the body of the mage. As a result both their defensive and offensive spells are considered more powerful than a witch of equal rank. However, there is a limit to this ability as mages only become so powerful and will never have the same stamina for casting magic as a witch or wizard. Empowered magic ability.
(Treat their magic as one rank higher.)
What they start at:
D- rank to D+ rank. - Sphinx (B+)
What they are:
Guardians that are known for being the most intelligence among all the monster world and they sport it by creating riddles. They are usually set in place to guard a tomb or ancient treasure with both their intellect and physical ability.
What they do:
In monster form these creatures have the ability to fly at high speeds and use razor sharp claws. These claws are much like a Succubus' and can cut through almost any material. Sphinx's have a unique ability wherein they can never kill anyone unless they play a riddle game. If the person can guess their riddle then the sphinx is not allowed to kill them. Sphinxes are impervious to mind control. However, if the riddle is not guessed correctly then the sphinx gains a massive increase in strength.
(Example: If your rank is C then treat your rank as B instead.)
What they start at:
They start at D rank.
***Special Rule***
In order to move past B- rank they must be recognized as highly intelligent by at least two teachers or the headmaster of Yokai academy.
